KitchenAid Professional 600 — hero shot

What we like

  • 6-quart bowl and bowl-lift frame handle double batches of bread dough the Artisan can't
  • Same hub and attachment system as every other KitchenAid, so existing accessories carry over
  • Bowl-lift arm keeps the bowl dead level under a heavy, lopsided load
  • Metal gears and a die-cast frame built for near-daily use, not occasional baking

What we don't

  • 29 pounds and a wider footprint eat more counter and cabinet space than the Artisan
  • Bowl-lift lever is stiffer and less intuitive than just tipping a tilt-head back
  • One-year warranty on a $450-500 mixer still feels short
  • Louder under load than the wattage number alone would suggest
