What we like
- 6-quart bowl and bowl-lift frame handle double batches of bread dough the Artisan can't
- Same hub and attachment system as every other KitchenAid, so existing accessories carry over
- Bowl-lift arm keeps the bowl dead level under a heavy, lopsided load
- Metal gears and a die-cast frame built for near-daily use, not occasional baking
What we don't
- 29 pounds and a wider footprint eat more counter and cabinet space than the Artisan
- Bowl-lift lever is stiffer and less intuitive than just tipping a tilt-head back
- One-year warranty on a $450-500 mixer still feels short
- Louder under load than the wattage number alone would suggest
